Catherine Pike

Lead Mentor

Catherine has been teaching for 30 + years mainly across Southampton in the primary phase, having taught all year groups (including secondary at the start of her career). She has always been interested in developing teachers and became a Deputy Headteacher to support a school with an inexperienced staff. After having children of her own, she decided that moving towards headship was not something she wanted. She decided instead to take the mentoring road, whilst still teaching.

She has worked across Trust schools and been moved to support schools with teachers who needed a specialist mentor to work with. She has been a SLE ( Specialist Leader of Education) working with ITT trainees and ECTs across an academy in Aldershot for many years. She finally stopped teaching at Easter last year and became an NPQ and ECT facilitator for HISP Teaching School Hub, as well as the primary facilitator for the IFT trainees - moving this year to be Programmes Lead for ITT (two days a week) and  Lead Mentor for three. She loves to work with trainees but especially with mentors, supporting them to really focus on what is important and modelling how to be the best teacher .

She has a passion for creativity, has a gorgeous Golden Doodle and loves cheese.
