Inspiring Future Teachers is offering staff employed in support roles in a primary school the opportunity to study for a degree awarded by Buckingham University alongside their full time school based employment. This qualification is completed over three years and then seamlessly transitions into the IFT postgraduate apprenticeship programme which leads to the award of QTS.

This route is open to any staff working in schools who do not yet hold a degree and wish to transition into teaching. The degree is BA in Primary Education and is open to anyone with 2 A levels for a start in June 2025. Whilst the course is closed on UCAS interested applicants can still apply directly to the university via their website using the link below BA (Hons) Primary Education | University of Buckingham

For any potential applicants who are working in schools who do not have 2 A levels whilst you cannot apply to the university for a 2025 start you do have the option to join the University of Buckingham Academic Writing course next January via which (performance depending) you can bypass the A level requirements and then start the degree in June 2026. If this is you get in touch with us info@inspiringfutureteachers.org to register your interest.

The annual tuition fee is £5,000 a year (£4,535 less expensive than full university annual fees). This can be funded by Student Finance for candidates eligible for student funding or alternatively via salary sacrifice. All staff undertaking the degree will be given a chromebook to allow them to access the course materials with no need to spend money on IT equipment.

For any current Yr 13 students in your schools who have not applied to university this year there is the option to still apply for 2025 start or alternatively to partner with Teaching Personnel to offer them a paid 'Gap Year'  in a vacancy on the Future Teachers Programme to gain experience and an understanding of the role before committing to the degree programme.
